Students
Students will find a very warm welcome at Trinity Church York. As a church committed to bringing all sorts of people together to know, love and worship God, we hope you'll become part of a family of people from all stages of life, serving and knowing God together.
At the same time, we recognise that University life gives an unique opportunity to get really well-grounded in understanding Jesus, the Bible and what it means to be a Christian. So a lot of what we do is geared to give students the chance to do just that:
WORSHIPPING
- Our Sunday Services are the main event. Worship is what God has made and saved us as Christians to do! It is our greatest joy and highest privilege to gather together to meet God, hearing him and praising him for his goodness and grace. We meet to worship God together as God's family every Sunday morning at 10.30am, from September our evening service will be at 4.30pm.
- To help you find us there are walking buses from both York St. John and the University of York campuses for the first few weeks of term. If you would like to join in, . We will also be hosting student lunches to give you a chance to meet some families and older students. Just come along on a Sunday morning.
THINKING
- ‘Thinking Like a Christian' is our weekly interactive Bible Study and teaching session after the evening service. The aim is to help each other learn how to think and live in a thoroughly Christian way. We take our cue from Romans 12:2, ‘Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind’. We will spend time thinking about things like the Lord’s prayer, the Ten Commandments, and some of the Bible’s big ideas. We will also look at church history, how to read the Bible for ourselves and give lots of time for questions! We would love you to join us.
- St Anthony's Hall is also home to Saviourgate Christian Study Centre - a comfortable, welcoming space for Christian students to study together and think Christianly about their academic work. There's a study room with plenty of desks and decent wifi, together with a reference library full of useful resources for Christian students. The centre also offers a regular programme of lunchtime talks, giving Christian perspectives on everything from logic to the arts, and for those who want to dig deeper, a weekly tutorial programme designed to help you thrive as a Christian student, whatever your field of study. The centre is open 9-5, Monday-Thursday during the university semesters. Find out more at www.saviourgate.org.
GROWING
- We think that the best way to grow as a Christian is to make good use of the gifts that God has given to us to grow in our love for him and knowledge of who he is. This includes (but isn't limited to) worshipping him Sunday by Sunday as we gather together and making time to read and pray on your own each day. To support you in growing we offer regular 121 meet ups for those who would like to read the Bible and pray with an older Christian.
- We also suggest that students consider joining a Tuesday Small Group and/or Women's Small Group Bible Studies.
LIVING
- Student Link connects you to a family or household of older Christians to get to know during your time in York. It's an opportunity to live out the unity that we have as brothers and sisters in Christ by lovingly supporting and serving one another.
- Living life as a Christian can be hard and we often have lots of questions. One of the great things about being a church family that there are godly people you can come to for advice.
- If you'd like to meet up with someone for a coffee and a chat or be involved with Student Link then .
